What is/has been the average age of your pullets, when they start to lay?

I have a Blue and a Black pullet that are 29 weeks old. Their combs are pale pink at best, they have matured (physically) much slower than my other breeds--EE, Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds!  They avoid the roo and he pays them no attention at all.

I am new to chickens and purchased these two from a local breeder.. I have been reading for years now...hoping to acquire a blue egg layer...So, how long do I have to wait???? :D  Thank you Debbie

The youngest we have ever had lay is 4 1/2 months-which is way too early.  Usually about 7 months and they will start.  We have had some to wait until 10-12 months.  I\'ve come to the conclusion it all depends on how well (fast) they develop.  Our extreme heat (100ºF+) slows them a lot.

Debbie,

Like, Paul, I remember one Ameraucana pullet start laying at 18 weeks.  I normally don\'t keep track, except for the first pullet egg each year.  Here are some old topics that also discuss the subject.
