To cull or not to cull that is the question
« on: May 23, 2015, 09:22:03 PM »
Attached are pictures of a black pullet that is approximately 7 weeks old. My concern is a white feather in the wing feathers. Is it too early to be concerned and is it possible a black feather will replace it when she loses this feather. I am a novice so any help you can give me is appreciated.

Hi John,

White feathers are very common in young blacks. When they molt their juvenile feathers they should all grow back as black adult feathers.

Thanks Max, that's what I was hopeing would happen but wanted to get an opinion from those with more experience.  I would have hated to cull her. I have hopes that she will be a keeper. Thanks for your response.
