merek\'s revaccinations
« on: March 02, 2011, 01:09:37 PM »
I just had a quick question.  We vaccinate for Merek\'s at day old, but have considered revaccinating the chicks so that they get a double dose.  I have read that some revaccinate at 1 week and others at 3 weeks and hatcheries revaccinate at 2 hours after the first dose.

Those of you that do vaccinate for Merek\'s, do you revaccinate or just go with the single vaccination? And if you do revaccinate, at what age do you do the second round of Merrek\'s vaccine?

Thanks~
Patty

I have found one vaccination properly administered is sufficient.  I usually give them a little more than the recommended 2 cc\'s, as I end up thowing a lot of the mixture out anyway.

I too have a lot that I toss out- guess that is why I had thought to vaccinate the second round since so much is wasted anyway.  Hmmm.. need to think on this a bit.
