2 eggs in the same day?

(1/1)

Beth C:
I found something strange today - 2 eggs in a pen with just one pullet. This has happened once before, but I thought I just missed the one from the previous day. But I checked last night and am certain there was no egg in there. Today, there were 2. This pullet is just under a year old, but lays like a 2 year old - usually every other day, sometimes skipping 2 days. I know birds suffering from internal egg laying will sometimes lay several eggs at once, but aren\'t those usually soft shelled or shell-less eggs? These were both perfectly normal looking. How common is this and should I be concerned?

Cloverleaf Farm:
My son has a bantam Cochin that in her first laying season, we would get 2 eggs a day from her at least twice a week.  Since her moult this spring, she hasn\'t done that, but she has always been a very consistent layer.

John:

I get them from time to time from a few year old hens that are cooped individually...they are Chanteclers though.

Beth C:
Good, glad it\'s not that unusual.
