Mutation or recessive genes

These were my own eggs but my start came from John.I started with splits and added a lav roo from John with no crossing out.

Boy...that John guy has a lot weird genes show up from time to time. ;)

I never get tired of genetic surprises.Interesting stuff.In this case I would say it is a mutation.That John is a great guy to share the information about his genetic surprises.

Crests, different types of combs, different colors, feathered legs, and a host of other traits:  They all arrived on the planet via mutation at some point in time.   So yes, I agree this had to be a mutation.   I don\'t think there were any crested birds in the background of the silvers were there John?  Jerry, remember years ago when you hatched some silkied silvers?
That one might have been a recessive gene lurking in the line until the right two birds were mated up, but who knows?

But seriously, your place has produced some weird mutations.  What about that silver bird that was half male and half female?????
