Wormers

I have seen in past posts that some of you folk use Ivermectin (Ivomec) as a wormer on your birds.  I really have not had a problem with worms, but have decided to start a worming program for the sake of other birds that we now raise.  We use Ivermectin as a drench on our goats and my wife uses an injection on her rabbits, but I have not seen how it is administer to chickens.  I assume that it is broad spectrum because that is why we have used it in the past.  I looked at First State's website but they do not list how it is to be used on poultry.  Can anyone help?

Ken,
I just wormed today.
I use one ounce (30 ml) of pore on ivermectin (Ivomec) per 1 gallon of drinking water.
This seems to work fine for me.
I also use Ivermectin as a drench on my goats.

I use a product called "Worminator" - Here is a link to it: http://www.twincitypoultrysupplies.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21&products_id=584

I like the ease of just two drops down the throat and your done, and the fact that it is suppose to kill all worms. And there is only a 24 hour withdraw period for eating the eggs. I personally wait a few days, but that's just me. I also have someone help me either hold the bird or do the dripping so as to not accidentally give them too much. It's not expensive ($11.95) and comes in a bottle with an eye dropper attached.

I use valbazen to worm my birds.  You can get it from lots of different sources.

It needs to be mixed as a drench.  8 ml/cc of water to 1 ml/cc of valbazen, then give 2 ml/cc down the throat.

I wrote fairly extensively on this subject awhile back for another Forum.  Thankfully I'm learning to save some of the info I write so others can see it later.  If you'd like to read this, please see:

Oh, and let me know if you can't open the link for some reason.  I'll try to get it to you another way.

God Bless,
