Oops! There was an accounting error on the displays at the national meet. Jerry DeSmidt had a score of 138 on his large fowl blue Ameraucanas. Paul & Angela Smith had a score of 141, not 114 on their large fowl black Ameraucanas.
For the benefit of new fanciers, a display consist of seven birds of the same variety and same breed. There must be a cock, hen, cockerel, pullet and trio (either old or young) for shows which accept trios, or three more birds of any sex for shows which don't accept trios. The display points are figured by a formula. First place in a class gets 6 times the number of birds shown in the class. Second place gets 4 times the number of birds in the class. Third place gets three times the number of birds in the class. Fourth place gets two times the number of birds in the class. Fifthe place gets one times the number of birds in the class. Trios get double points on the same scale (6, 4, 3, 2, 1). Shows without trios use the next three highest scoring birds after one of each a cock, hen, cockerel and pullet. The points are added to find the highest scoring display.
This was the first display we have shown, in several years, due to the older birds not being ready to show, as they are usually not finished with their annual molt by show time.
