Mike Gilbert:
Here is an article that may be of some interest. As always, take it with a 'grain of salt.'

Well, that's interesting. The part about the blue egg being the lastest food fad. ;D
Would be 8) to see them in the egg aisle one day.
DeWayne Edgin:
I think it would be nice to see them in stores. The down side i think would be that Ameraucana chickens would be every were and loose value. Another thing is when they are breed for egg color by people that only care about eggs, then they would be cross breeding them. I had a hen that was crossed with a brown egg layer and a black Ameraucana that lays a real nice olive green egg. I gave her to my mom a few years ago and she loves her egg color. This is just what i think would happen but some of you may not. A breeder that breeds for showing would breed by standards as they do now, so they would probably be the best source still to get pure breeds from.
Ontario Chick:
I always worry, when anything related to animals becomes fashionable.

Here is another article about the retrovirus: http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2013-09/find-blue-chicken-egg-congrats-your-chicken-has-virus?dom=tw&src=SOC
BTW, Olive Eggers are already a popular fad in California.
