I believe you to be correct in my opinion.   The founders of the breed did build the barn and put in all the hard work.  I feel that now the barn is just simply being painted.  Tom bred the hen that was the clubs National Champion also.  I did hear some say they though they were to big.  This is not the case.  Some of you seen my guy I raised and showed.  This boy is the same size or smaller.

The winning cockerel has a lot of feather, especially a nice, sizable tail.   That extra feather may make them appear larger, but feathers don't weigh much.    The thing to do to refute such claims is to actually weigh the birds just before the show if you have the opportunity.   I will say this cockerel does not look like he came from the same line as the winning bird at Lucasville.

Jan:
Thanks Max and I agree.

Mike
He has a wider tail feather than my other Ameraucanas.  I ask Tom how he got it and he said that he culled all birds with out until thats what he had.  The wide tail feather is what makes him stand out in my opinion.  He weighs 5 lbs 7.8 oz. i would say you coulnt get any closer to the standard weight.

Congrats to you both and to the ABC!

God Bless,

Where is the photo located?

Jan:
This is the photo that the Poultry press took. He really doesn't hold his tail this high.  Fell free to post the other photos.
