The Red River Bantam Club held their annual show on Oct. 3, 2015 in Gainesville, Tex. There were 29 head of large fowl Ameraucanas by 3 ABC members plus 2 EEL’s by one exhibitor at our Texas State meet.
Nine head of whites in the white classes was won by Ernie Haire’s hen and pullet respectfully. Paul & Angela Smith showed the only 2 blue wheatens. Their cockerel was BV and pullet was RV. The BV blue was a cockerel shown by Paul & Angela Smith. Max Strawn had RV on a pullet from the 9 head shown in the blue classes. Max also had the top two blacks, both on pullets from the six head shown. Max’s BV black pullet won Best of Breed, Best AOSB and Res. Large Fowl! Another good win for the Ameraucana breed! Thanks Max for all that you do to help advance the Ameraucana breed and promote the ABC! Congratulations! Paul & Angela showed the only AOV Ameraucanas. Their lavender/self blue pullet was selected best AOV and their splash cockerel was selected Res. AOV. Their lavender/self blue cockerel was reserve in the lavender/self blue class.
No bantam Ameraucanas and no juniors showed any Ameraucanas. Steve Jones did an excellent job of judging the large fowl show!
A good time and visit occurred with all in attendance. Mary Laska and Dorothy Haire brought Ernie’s white Ameraucanas to the show as Ernie was busy with the Canton sale day. All Ameraucana exhibitors who were in attendance at the Red River Bantam show are looking forward to the Texas State Fair in two weeks! It will have even more exhibitors and more Ameraucanas, along with egg and crowing contest.
Photos coming soon.
