Another option is to size your photos in your phone settings.  I know in my phone, I can set the size of the pictures I will be taking in the settings and then I don't have to worry about sizing the actual photos down later. 

The only problem with that is if you want to crop something out of the smaller photo later, you could end up with a really small image.

My personal phone is an Iphone, work phone is android. Both of them will prompt you for picture size when sending in an email

Hmmm...my new phone is a Droid Maxx2 and it doesn't prompt me.  I was just uploading pics today for the breeding pens.

I guess i should have said this a few years ago but i got this app just so i could post pics on this site a few years back! Sorry for not mentioning it! Lol
