ABC Meet Policy - points and rosettes
« on: March 09, 2016, 09:27:04 AM »
The question came up recently about the ABC policy for earning points and getting rosettes, so I thought I would post it here.  :)

Points:

Any active member, in good standing (membership not lapsed), can earn points at Ameraucana Breeders Club sanctioned Meets.  The points are earned based on the number of birds entered for the class and are not dependent on how many exhibitors are entered.  So, even if you are the only Ameraucana exhibitor, you earn points for your wins.  It goes like this:

Best of Variety - points earned = total number of Ameraucanas entered in that variety.
Reserve Best of Variety - points earned = total number of Ameraucanas entered in that variety minus one.

Best of Breed - points earned = total number of Ameraucanas entered for that class (large fowl or bantam)
Reserve Best of Breed - points earned = total number of Ameraucanas entered for that class (large fowl or bantam) minus one.

Champion Ameraucana - points earned = total number of Ameraucanas entered for both classes (bantam and large fowl).
Reserve Champion Ameraucana - points earned = total number of Ameraucanas entered for both classes (bantam and large fowl) minus one.

Rosettes

Rosettes are awarded based on the number of exhibitors entered, in that class.

Open:

Best of Breed rosette - awarded if there are three or more exhibitors entered in the class (bantam or large fowl) where the Best of Breed was won.

Reserve Best of Breed rosette - awarded if there are five or more exhibitors entered in the class (bantam) or large fowl) where the Reserve Best of Breed was won.

For example, if there are two exhibitors in bantam and two exhibitors in large fowl, then no one will be awarded either the BB or RB rosette.

If there is one exhibitor in bantam, and five exhibitors in large fowl, the large fowl BB and RB will both receive rosettes, but the bantam exhibitor will not receive either.

Junior

There are no exhibitor restrictions for Juniors.  Best of Breed rosettes will be awarded for any Best of Breed win in the Junior division.
