Jean:
It's already time to start thinking about putting our National together as far as awards, etc.
The host Club is offering us a nice plaque for Champion Ameraucana. I believe Paul will be making four plaques for the BB and RB for LF and bantams.
We will also have egg awards.
If you would like to donate a special award now is the time to do it. :)
I will be looking into a couple of the items I posted about previously, but any thoughts would be appreciated.
Don:
Jean, Do you have room and plan to have a Raffle of Ameraucanas and or related supplies? Is there an address closer to the event where items can be shipped?
Do we have any standard awards from the club or any left over that have not been given these past few nationals?
The rotating award for bantams is nearing its final round and Jerry has won it more than any others. But I can't remember which variety will be awarded the winner this year? Maybe Buff?
Does anyone want to offer awards for those varieties projected for Standard Acceptance?
Jean:
Don,
I don't have a plan yet, but am on my way. I do believe there will be room for a raffle or silent auction. I have lots of room in my "chicken trailer" if anyone would like to forward birds for raffle or for me to display at the show for them. I also have quarantine areas around the barn.
Susan may know what our standard awards are for prize money. We generally decide on bigger awards the summer before the show and people donate for "specials".
We can think about retiring the traveling bantam award or getting another plaque made and continuing the tradition.
I was thinking of getting blue and red aprons made this year with the ameraucana logo on them for BV and RV for the show. We could sell any remainders on the website as Club merchandise. I was also thinking of getting some directors chairs made up with the Club logo. Clif suggested that we get them in different colors for different districts, which I thought was a fun idea.
Anyone have any other ideas???
Don:
Regarding the traveling trophy, Do we know what it might cost to start another trophy, and is anyone interested in starting this over again? In addition to breeding stock for the silent auction, what are other items that might sell well to help fund awards for the next National? I have seen poultry books, vitamins and treats, and even carrying cages sold at the auctions. But we might be able to get distributors to donate brochures for poultry supplies, maybe even a incubator. We might be able to get a few products from the merchandise mart that Susan is working on now. All of this would help create some interest at the show.
Jean, how big is this show normally for the fall?
Jean:
I think we should add on to the traveling trophy.
I have not been to the Caldwell show before, but will try to get info on how big it is.
