To keep from getting zoonotic parasites do the following.
Wear an air filter when you clean or go into the chicken coop.
Wash your hands after you collect eggs or touch anything that is contaminated with chicken feces. That includes the chickens.
Always were dairy boots when you walk where the chickens drop feces. Disinfect the boots after you leave the area. Bleach water or quartinary ammonia works well.
Always cook your chicken until it reaches the appropriate temperature. Watch the joints they can some times be under cooked.
There are many different parasites that can be zoonotic.
Keep your dogs and cats away from chicken feces. If they inhale or eat the feces, directly or indirectly, they can be contaminated.
