"Phishing" the Breeder's Directory

(1/1)

Susan Mouw:
Just a quick note to all our faithful members and followers:
Someone has recently "phished" our breeder's directory listing on our website and is sending out membership solicitation notices to the emails gathered from that process.

The IP address that "phished" our breeder's directory will be blocked from our website shortly; however, if you do not desire to receive any further communication from that email, pm, or ip address, we recommend you block it, as well.

If you welcome those solicitations, then you need take no further action.

One final note: The ABC welcomes everyone, whether they are members of another specialty club, APA, ABA, or not. But we don't condone or accept using our member's breeder's directory profile for such solicitations.

Edited (12/29/17): I have removed the word "phishing" from the above, as it was an incorrect use of the word.  "Phishing" is defined as: the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers." There was no intent to harvest member's personal information for fraudulent activity.  The emails sent could legitimately be called "spam", which is defined as: Email spam, also known as unsolicited bulk email (UBE), junk mail, or unsolicited commercial email (UCE), is the practice of sending unwanted email messages, frequently with commercial content, in large quantities to an indiscriminate set of recipients.

Ernie Haire:
If I get any unsolicited emails or texts, they will be blocked.

Thanks,
Ernie
