Celebrating 40 years in the APA Standard
« on: November 17, 2024, 11:14:03 PM »
It has been 40 years since the Ameraucana breed was admitted to the APA standard!

At the annual meet in Milwaukee in October of 1984, the APA Board of Directors voted to accept bantam as well as large fowl Ameraucana into the APA Standard using the bantam’s proposed standard as a guide. The wheaten, blue wheaten, blue, black, buff, white, brown red, and silver color varieties were recognized!

Crazy they got them all recognized at once when I see know how much work it takes to get one done.  Impressive work!

Yes, the criteria has changed considerably over the years. It is much more difficult and time-consuming now to get a color variety approved.

Ok, I was guessing that must have been the case.  Definitely a big process now.

Certainly can't forget all the effort that went into the creation and development of the approved color varieties either.
