Duck-foot
« on: April 05, 2021, 03:43:59 PM »
One disqualification we need to watch for when breeding our Ameraucanas towards the standard is duck-foot. Duck-foot is when the fourth or hind toe is carried forward so as to touch or almost touch the third toe instead of carried backward to touch the ground and help balance the bird.

To buy an American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection book, which goes into full detail on the Ameraucana breed as well as defects and disqualifications in poultry, visit http://amerpoultryassn.com/sample-page/apa-store/

Thanks for the good info!
Haven't had to deal with this yet, but always good to keep your eyes upon for new problems.

You’re welcome!

P.S. Thanks for sending eggs for the egg color chart project!
