2021 wheaten and blue wheaten pullets
« on: July 06, 2021, 11:34:48 AM »
Sharing a few photos of my oldest batch of wheaten and blue wheaten pullets to keep the forum alive. There are a few culls in these photos. Ignore eye color, as it is still transitioning over. I'll share some photos of the males when they finish out more.

You should use a picture of one of those to replace the current one in the gallery.
I really looked disapprovingly at my wheaten pullets after I saw these pictures.
I only have 3 or 4 that age.  Many more younger, hopefully some of them will step up.
Can't wait to see the males!

Thanks for your encouragement!

As I recall, Lauren got Jr Champion Ameraucana with a large fowl wheaten pullet or hen at our national last year. Don’t sell yourself short. :)

Yea, she's nice.  But her egg color is how shall we say, less than desirable.  So I didn't breed from her.
May still show her as a hen.

As I mentioned in the Facebook group, nice set of pullets!  Now you mentioned culls: are you culling against the tails and wings? :) Those are the differences I mentioned.  I can’t see the eye color from any photos so no worries.

In this particular set of pullets, I have a few blue wheaten pullets that I am culling for their tail transition. It’s too abrupt. I am okay with the wings. A few of the pullets in the photos appear to be dragging their wings a bit, but it’s because I barn-raise my birds and it was really hot on the day I put them out to take photos. Typically they hold their wings tighter. :)
