Green sheen on chocolate
« on: August 15, 2024, 01:23:17 PM »
I'm currently working on writing out a standard for my chocolate/mauve wheaten project and I'm wondering about the green sheen. I know in wheatens the birds are desired to have green sheen on their black feathers and it is mentioned in the SOP, and I've seen this sheen be present on chocolate feathers, but I don't know if that is being selected for when it comes to chocolate ameraucanas

I feel like if the green is being selected for in wheatens and in chocolates, then it should be selected for in chocolate wheatens. but if it's not selected for in chocolates then I think I would not select for it in chocolate wheatens.

Can I get some thoughts from other breeders on this?
