The weather was great for the Fowl Fest this year. We had 1,086 birds entered by 130 exhibitors in the Open and Junior Shows. Gary Overton, Earl Jones and Matt Lhamon were the judges. Gary judged the Ameraucanas in the Jr show and Matt the Ameraucanas in the Open show. Both did great jobs.
There were two bantam Ameraucanas in the Junior show. They were a buff cockerel and pullet shown by Bandon Borke. There were six large fowl in the Jr show from three exhibitors. Two were \"hatchery\" birds and were disqualified due to thier leg color. BB was a black pullet by Mikayla LaBar and RB was a white pullet also entered by Mikayla.
There were 17 Ameraucana bantams entered, representing 7 varieties, in the Open show entered by 3 exhibitors.
Wayne Gritter had BB and RB on wheaten pullets. The best was also Reserve Champion AOCCL.
There were 24 large fowl entered, representing 7 varieties, by four exhibitors.
Rick Straight (a new jr ABC member) had BB and Champion AOSB on a black cockerel and I had RB and Reserve AOSB on a Buff Pullet.
A few birds were \"Out\", so the number of birds actually shown was less than the number entered.
Other Ameraucana exhibitors in the Open show included: Kate Sparks and Harold Knapp.
