Separating birds
« on: February 10, 2009, 10:40:46 AM »
Up until about maybe 1 or 2 weeks ago I had all my whites (which is 1 cockerel and 2 pullets) w/ all my other birds. My whites are currently separated. I know one of my other roos was probably breeding these 2 whites. So my question is how long before the eggs they are laying will the chicks, if I decide to hatch them will come out true whites? The other male was a Buff Orpington. But like I said one of my pullets was put in w/ the white roo about a week ago and the other one only a day or so ago. I\'m thinking I might have to wait at least a month, 2 would probably be better just to be safe. Is that a good guestimate on that?

Thanks
Kim

Hey Kim,

I am not sure, but think that you need to wait a month.  That is what I heard.. but,  will defer to anyone who knows different!
thats a great question, by the way!
