Exhibiting & Promoting / Re: 2021 ABC NC DISTRICT MEET RESULTS
« on: December 03, 2021, 01:16:08 PM »
Thanks everyone on the picture results. I still have a ways to go to catch up with Paul on his photography skills. Give me another 10 years to close the gap! We had a nice show overall with I think the final count was 1865 entries. We had 7 Ameraucana exhibitors from 5 states. A special thank you to the ABC members who had entries, Debbie Roamer (Colorado), Jerry DeSmidt (Wisconsin) Sara Church and Gordon Gilliam both from Nebraska. I hope to see even more ABC members at the 2022 ABC National Meet November 19-20 in Lincoln NE.

Results and pictures from the 2021 North Central District Meet with apologies to Jerry DeSmidt for the missing picture on the AOV Self Blue Bantam K which was RV. There were 31 entries from 5 exhibitors in the LF Class and 44 entries from 5 exhibitors in the Bantam Class. Jerry also won Trio of the show with a young LF White Trio. There were no Junior Ameraucana entries.

Exhibiting & Promoting / 2022 ABC National Meet
« on: November 16, 2021, 03:23:25 PM »
I'm sorry not to get this posted earlier, but have been busy getting set up for our North Central District Meet this weekend. The rotation schedule for next year's ABC National Meet falls to the North Central District. It has been decided to place the meet at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln Nebraska on November 19-20 2022. The host club will be the Nebraska State Poultry Assn. This is almost the center of the USA if you don't count in Alaska or Hawaii. Hopefully this will help make shorter travel times from all directions. Start thinking of items (eggs, chicks, gift cards, poultry supplies, etc) that you as members would like to donate for the silent auction.
I have already purchased LF and Bantam show boxes that I will donate. I'm counting on Lindsay to help with compiling a list as she does such a great job of organizing the silent auctions. Remember the proceeds from the 2022 Meet go for the 2023 National Meet in the North East District. Look for more upcoming posts on the ABC Forum.

Thanks for all the nice comments and congratulations. I wish all the ABC members could have the experience that I have had being on the ABC Board 0f Directors the past few years. It has not only been a pleasure, but truly a great experience for me working with other BOD. You get to see how hard they work behind the scene promoting and elavating our outstanding breed. Great people with a vision for the Ameraucana breed!

We are only about 3 weeks away from our 2021 Noirth Central District Meet. It will be held at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln, NE on November 20-21. Catalogs and entry forms are available as a download on Poultry Show Central. Just look for Nebraska State Poultry Assn Show. Entries must be post marked by November 11th. News Flash: Health paper requirements have been changed for out of state entries. If you are NPIP and have a form 9-3 you do not need a CVI form. If you are not NPIP you do need a CVI form, negatve pollurum testing within the last 90 days and a Pre-Entry Import Permit Number.

You do not need to live in the NC Dstrict, Come and join in the fun!

Breeding / Re: Proven reproducers
« on: October 24, 2021, 06:10:11 AM »
Stephan, I will start out in my breeding pens with older cockerels and young cocks with up to 6 hens. In most cases as the cocks and hens grow older, say 3-4 years old and fertility is not an issue I will usually change my breeding pens to trio or quads. As the birds grow older It may change to pairs. As Lindsay said you may retire birds not because of fertility issues, but because of your younger stock coming in as replacements. If you are constantly working on improving areas in your birds and having success, as you noted older birds may be put out to pasture because of their usefulness. Hopefully your youger birds growing out will be your breeders of the future. There is one thing that may cause this to change and that is PREDATORS! It may make you take one step forward and several steps back, but that is another story. As has been my experience, preators always go for the cream of your crop!
