I wanted to take a moment to extend congratulations to ABC member Sienna Roaque for receiving Reserve Champion AOSB and Reserve Champion Large Fowl with a black Ameraucana hen at the Colorado Poultry Association show! ABC member Audrey Roaque received BV with a large fowl blue Ameraucana cock and BB with a bantam blue wheaten Ameraucana cock. Audrey also did great in showmanship! Way to go ladies!

Thank you Kris.

Lol, sounds good. It’s not a requirement to advertise with the ABC in the APA yearbook but I highly recommend it!

A special thank you to our ABC members that advertised with the ABC in the 2021 APA yearbook. I enjoyed helping you with your ads!

I take so many photos of my birds trying to get the “right shot.”

If I had a dollar for every photo of a chicken on my camera roll we could probably put the four kids through college.

Speaking of college, I saw your photos with your daughter at OSU. Congratulations!

Website Changes / Re: No Emojis?

Kris,

Any pictures posted must be 150 KB or smaller. You can use an app or a program such as paint to reduce the file size.

I will look into upgrading our emojis.

Goodness, I had no idea the photo was affecting board members as well as the general membership. I’ll move the slideshow to the top of my priority list.

I think I’m going to ask the Board for a pay increase to complete these tasks Kris. Billy said I should ask for double my current pay.  ;)

P.S. I’m glad others share my dry humor.  :D

I have been hatching wheatens too, along with blue wheaten, blue, black, splash, self blue and then some white bantams with our daughter.

I almost pursued the isabel project a few years ago since I raise both the wheatens and self blues, but decided I was best served trying to improve the varieties I already had.

A color variety acceptance process is exciting and rewarding. The ABC had the self blue color variety officially approved in large fowl January of 2020. It is so exciting that it is approved after years of feeding the self blues as a project color.

Oh dear. Now he is staring at us from two parts of the website.

He looks like he’s going to peck your eye out.

If anyone has a photo of a bantam blue cockerel that they would like to submit for potential use on the website, send it to abcsecretaryhelton@gmail.com so Kris no longer feels uncomfortable.

But with seriousness, I would actually like to re-do that slideshow when I am done with the APA and ABA ads.  :)

Right now I am working with large fowl splash since the ABC is seeking approval for the variety. We had the first prequalifying meet on 11/7/20 and the next one is scheduled for 11/6/21 at the Heart of Ozarks poultry show in Fayetteville, AR. We’ll need 4 splash in each category (Cock/Hen/Cockerel/Pullet) for it to be successful.

Keep us posted on how your project progresses!

I have purchased hatching eggs from Luanne in the past. I was pleased with the birds that hatched and they did not have any health issues. Unfortunately, a predator dug under their pen and got to them when they were around 6-7 months old.
