Title: Avian Influenza

While we on the east coast cast a wary eye to the skies to the west of us, the Avian flu continues its migration from west to east. Reports into Missouri and as far south as Arkansas have many researchers scratching their heads as to the migration. It was originally believed to be following the migratory routes of wild birds, but now it seems the migration is going north to south - opposite of what the current migration routes would be.

Many are recommending not to free range your flock. I know I'm closing up my breeding pens and removing all the free rangers that I don't plan on using for breeding.

Strange that most outbreaks do seem to be in commercial flocks.

sanitation and bio-security. I was at P. Allen Smiths spring poultry workshop and the University of AR was there also and had spoken on this a little.
