I have a splash chick (Skittles) and she kinda sticks out of the crowd. ;) she has alot of blue in her wings and they start out really light blue and go really dark towards the top. I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen what Skittles turns out to look like.
--Thanks

You may end up with a blue chick. I had one that I thought was a splash when it was hatched, but then it started turning. It first showed up on it's wings like that. I also had a splash named Skittles. Cool name for a splash. Keep us all updated with pictures as your chick grows up.

Skittles is one adorable chick. It'll be neat to see what he/she looks like all feathered in. :)

Thanks you Sharon and Lee I really appreciate the feedback. ;D. I can't wait!! :)

I've talked to some other people at shows about Skittles coloring a couple said that she may be a splash with blue feathers and w/ white and black splashing.?

I'm pretty sure you have a blue chick. A splash chick would look white and blue. And black cannot be splash :)
-
Yep! Looks like you've got yourself a little blue chick there. The black spots is probably a little ticking. I think that happens sometimes (a theory) when a person breeds a spotted splash to a blue or black. It's kind of like the spots come through onto the blue. That's just me guessing though. I'm really not sure why black ticking spots sometimes shows up on blues. Does this chick have a splash parent?

Skittles is growing up fast and I'm pretty sure it's a splash but I would still like to hear what you guys think. :)

Hi Hannah,
I'm pretty sure it's a splash. Is this one of the chicks I sent to you? If so, can you tell me what number the toe punches are? Are they a hole or have they been split open? :)

I think it looks splash too. It also looks like you have a male.
-
Yes Max this is one that got from you :) the only toe punch is a hole on the left foot

Skittles is one of my project birds. He/she (I'm thinking he) is half Ameraucana and half Andalusian. Judging from the pictures I would say he is carrying the pattern gene required for true lacing. If you bred him to a black female from a blue mating it would be interesting to see how the chicks turned out. ;)

I'm thinking a lot of folks would like to see how that turns out. :)

I need to make a correction I read the toe punches wrong and they are the one on the outer toes and one on the inner toe on the other side skittles is out of Max's blue hen and cock... Sorry I got that mixed up
Thanks Max

No problem Hannah... He is a pure Ameraucana. I still think he's pretty cool. The splash pattern on him looks awesome! :)
-
Max out of my Andalusian / Ameraucan cross I gotten several splash pullets but no splash cockerels, what about you?
-
Both of my Ameraucana / Andalusian are female too.
-
Hannah, are both of your A/A's Splash?

Clif, I haven't kept any of the splash or blacks long enough to tell as I am just working with the blues for now.
-
I kept a few splash and blacks, some of them look pretty good.
