« on: March 26, 2014, 10:33:45 PM »
I'm just curious as to what others think is the cause of a newly hatched chick looking straight up and then flipping over and what to do about it.

Ameraucana Marketplace / Hatching a cracked egg
« on: February 23, 2014, 04:04:18 PM »
I have mentioned using a little Elmer's glue on a cracked hatching egg several times, but thought I would show you an example with an egg that was cracked and had a pushed in round spot. This chick just hatched today. Glue really does work.  :)

Exhibiting & Promoting / Medina County Fair 2013
« on: August 03, 2013, 09:54:56 AM »
Our fair is currently going on right now and the poultry classes were judged this past Thursday. I would like to congratulate Abby Besida on her 1st place win in the cockerel class with a blue cockerel "Gizmo" her parents purchased from me this past May. Gizmo then went on to place Reserve of Show when they brought back the winners of all four classes. I would also like to congratulate Joy Kindall on her 2nd place win in the cockerel class with, "Blitz" a black cockerel they had also purchased from me earlier this year. It was great to see that the only two Ameraucanas in that class were picked above all of the other breeds.

It's like watching my own kids competing. Sniff, sniff... they made their momma proud!  :)

Breeding / Green sheen in blues
« on: April 26, 2013, 09:33:12 AM »
I'd like to revisit the topic of seeing some green sheen in a blue. I found in the forum where it had been talked about back several years ago, but I'm wondering if anyone has figured out anything more about it. I have a young blue male that was hatched in January that I'm starting to see some on his back. Not sure where it's coming from or what causes it. I do not plan to use him for breeding.
