Title: shade cloth
Post by: bantamhill on September 26, 2005, 09:40:46 PM
Does anyone use shade cloth over pens and if you do what type do you use . . . any recommendations or things to avoid?

After looking at my yellowish white ameraucana\'s I thought I should try shading them.

Michael, we had some shade cloth given to us that had been used in a nursery. I don\'t know what particular type it is. My husband just threw it up on top of the runs and spread it out the best he could. It gets caught on the wire so it has some folds in it which actually works out better because it provides heavier shade.  I would suggest attaching it around the edges somehow because the wind catches it and blows it down over the edges in the way of my run doors(one more project for Dick!).

Question regarding the yellowing of white birds....is the sun the only thing that causes the yellowing? I have heard a few different things, like it being caused my too much corn in the feed to genetics..... :stare: Any advice? I plan to show 2 breeds that are white next March. Thanks
