Jerry,
Email some pics to me and I\'ll post them.
-
Sent them to your chick hatchery email
-
Here they are...
-
It\'s kind of fuzzy, but it looks more like a silkie.
Where the eggs from your own stock or did you purchase them?
-
These were my own eggs but my start came from John.I started with splits and added a lav roo from John with no crossing out.
-
came from John
Boy...that John guy has a lot weird genes show up from time to time. ;)
-
I never get tired of genetic surprises.Interesting stuff. In this case I would say it is a mutation. That John is a great guy to share the information about his genetic surprises.
-
Crests, different types of combs, different colors, feathered legs, and a host of other traits: They all arrived on the planet via mutation at some point in time. So yes, I agree this had to be a mutation. I don\'t think there were any crested birds in the background of the silvers were there John? Jerry, remember years ago when you hatched some silkied silvers?
That one might have been a recessive gene lurking in the line until the right two birds were mated up, but who knows?
-
John, I think it\'s time you told everyone about your silkie \"problem\". We\'ve caught you! :p
But seriously, your place has produced some weird mutations. What about that silver bird that was half male and half female?????

This is a lavender chick.I sent the silver pic along intending to put it with the silver post.My fault.I will try to master this pic posting again with the instructions John sent.I am sooooo bad at this computer and camera stuff.
