Title: Punnett blue egg color genetics
Post by: Susan Mouw on February 28, 2015, 08:21:51 AM
The subject of the genetics of the blue egg color came up in a thread on Facebook and someone found this document. This was written in the 1940s by Reginald Punnett (Punnett co-founded the Journal of Genetics and is probably best known for the genetic tool known as the Punnett square).

The tests shown here would indicate that the blue egg color is a simple autosomal dominant. Has there been any other studies that would indicate otherwise?

This is probably old news to most of you long term breeders, but it was very interesting to me and might help some other newbies, too. :)
