It's already time to start thinking about putting our National together as far as awards, etc.
The host Club is offering us a nice plaque for Champion Ameraucana. I believe Paul will be making four plaques for the BB and RB for LF and bantams.
We will also have egg awards.
If you would like to donate a special award now is the time to do it. :)
I will be looking into a couple of the items I posted about previously, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Jean, Do you have room and plan to have a Raffle of Ameraucanas and or related supplies? Is there an address closer to the event where items can be shipped?
Do we have any standard awards from the club or any left over that have not been given these past few nationals?
The rotating award for bantams is nearing its final round and Jerry has won it more than any others. But I can't remember which variety will be awarded the winner this year? Maybe Buff?
Does anyone want to offer awards for those varieties projected for Standard Acceptance?

Don,
I don't have a plan yet, but am on my way. I do believe there will be room for a raffle or silent auction. I have lots of room in my "chicken trailer" if anyone would like to forward birds for raffle or for me to display at the show for them. I also have quarantine areas around the barn.
Susan may know what our standard awards are for prize money. We generally decide on bigger awards the summer before the show and people donate for "specials".
We can think about retiring the traveling bantam award or getting another plaque made and continuing the tradition.
I was thinking of getting blue and red aprons made this year with the ameraucana logo on them for BV and RV for the show. We could sell any remainders on the website as Club merchandise. I was also thinking of getting some directors chairs made up with the Club logo. Clif suggested that we get them in different colors for different districts, which I thought was a fun idea.
Anyone have any other ideas???

Regarding the traveling trophy, Do we know what it might cost to start another trophy, and is anyone interested in starting this over again? In addition to breeding stock for the silent auction, what are other items that might sell well to help fund awards for the next National? I have seen poultry books, vitamins and treats, and even carrying cages sold at the auctions. But we might be able to get distributors to donate brochures for poultry supplies, maybe even a incubator. We might be able to get a few products from the merchandise mart that Susan is working on now. All of this would help create some interest at the show.
Jean, how big is this show normally for the fall?
-
I think we should add on to the traveling trophy.
I have not been to the Caldwell show before, but will try to get info on how big it is.

Jean, what do you mean ad on? Do you want to have one for LF also? Jerry will get the current plaque for bantams at the end of this year since he has won it more than anyone else. Paul will know for sure. Do you want to start a new bantam plaque in 2017? It's not something that we need to decide now. But it would be good to have some ideas of cost.
-
Jean so if i mailed you a bird or two, you would show them and then give them out for a prize if i wanted you to? Is that what you mean? Lol.

Yep, I can do that, or I can ship them back to you. It would be cheaper than gas and hotel to do that.

You can actually make an additional plaque that will add on to the original and keep the plaque going. I am still waiting to hear back on hotel accommodations, etc. from the hosting Club.

That's my plan! I'm shipping out a trio...of what yet I don't know. But I'm just going to let Jean sell or auction them off at the National, rather than having them shipped back.

Sorry this response is so late! Covered in work-still hatching-#17 hatch is occurring now, trying to get small grain combine between rains, and hand pollinating corn is taking much of my time.
I think the plaques info is swapped! The Arne Schmidt's traveling plaque is with me-as no buffs were shown in 2015. It goes to the BV white LF at the 2016 national. The 2017 national it goes to Jerry DeSmidt to keep as he has won it the most.
The bantam BB traveling plaque is with Jerry DeSmidt. We will need to check with Jerry, about how many years are still left on it.
If it is full-I can make an add on plaque! Soon we will get caught up on all the extra work, and I'll get started on the four plaques for our 2016 national in Caldwell, ID.
Hope all have a great summer as it starts Monday!

The Ameraucana National is a little more than three months out. I hope those show champs are growing out nicely. Who is planning to show Self Blue, Splash and Splash Wheatens?

I'm sending a black trio and a splash pullet out to Jean.

I know there are a few that are leaving for the national today because of the distance to travel. Everyone be safe and careful on your way there and back home. I wish I were going but it's just a little out of my reach this year. Besides, we need to spread the winnings around a little bit anyway. Just kidding Lol! :)

Hi Max,
We understand about the L-O-N-G trip. It looks like Angela & I might be the only SC district ABC members to show. Hoping some of the Colorado members will show!
Would you and Clif talk with Fayetteville ABC exhibitors about the possibility of Fayetteville being our SC district meet for 2017. Jacob called me a couple months ago asking that we hold our district meet there. It will be decided at our SC district meeting at Shawnee.
Hope you have a great show! Remember to spread the winnings! LOL! Both shows are ABC meets. Sorry we can't be there and at the national at the same time even though there is a 2 hour time difference! LOL! again!

We would like to wish everyone a great show. We are praying for safe travels for everyone who will be attending the Nationals or any other show that is being held. We are blessed to live in a country where are free to do what we enjoy doing. We are blessed with the freedom to come together, share our experiences, and share our genetics with other people who share our interests.
Sincerely,
Ernie Haire

Will do, Paul. Good luck to you and everyone else attending! I know you will represent the SC district very well.

We are in the same boat. We are not going to be able to go to the Nationals due to a change in my job. Oh well, it the chickens and I want to eat we have to do what we have to do. I hope that you all have a great year hatching and look forward to seeing you next year.
Be Blessed,
Ernie Haire
