Exhibiting & Promoting / Project Colors and the APA
« on: August 25, 2014, 01:37:29 PM »
If you have been or plan to work on a project color of ameraucana, I strongly suggest you become a member of the APA.

It has been said that the APA is going to change their rules for accepting new varieties.  They have supposedly already put a moratorium on any new variety until they have hashed this out and changed their By-Laws.

The new rule they want to pass is that the five breeders who have bred the new variety for five years must also be a member of the APA.  They plan no grandfather clause to this proposal.

If you have a problem with this proposal and are currently a member of the APA, I suggest you contact your District Representative and discuss a "grandfather" solution.  Since most people working on project varieties have been following the written guidelines provided by the APA for the past several years, to change it after many have just finished their five year mark is not fair.

I would also encourage all members of our Board of Directors to become members of the APA.  The APA sanctions all our shows and is the "Parent Organization" of poultry exhibitors and clubs.

Ameraucana Marketplace / Bantam blue wheaten/wheaten Quad
« on: August 18, 2014, 12:08:07 PM »
One blue wheaten cockerel and three wheaten pullets.  Raised exclusively indoors.  They are a very good start if someone wants to get the blue wheatens going again.  $125 shipped.  NPIP/AI clean

Due to health reasons I need to downsize some of the birds.  I can't keep going like I am now with all the chores if I want to continue breeding birds.

My silver flock is still in project stage.

I have dismantled the silver laced projects in both bantam and LF and am considering letting the LF chocolates go also.

If you are interested please e-mail jribbeck@q.com.

I am needing to get rid of a few cock birds. I have a first generation LF split to chocolate project boy (pretty nice looking), a fourth generation bantam split to chocolate project (very nice!) and a large LF split to lavender cock bird. Please let me know if you are interested. NPIP & AI clean.

Please e-mail jribbeck@q.com if interested and I can get pictures also.

Ameraucana Marketplace / Chocolate Projects
« on: January 02, 2014, 01:05:20 PM »
I am selling last years chocolate project birds in LF and bantam.  I have 6-7 hens in bantam and LF available.  LF are $20 and bantams $15.  Will ship - NPIP and AI clean.

The bantams are the third generation and lf are first.  All hens have molted and should start to lay again soon.

I also have a couple split to chocolate LF cocks and cockerels - same price.

Please contact me at jribbeck@q.com

Breeding / Sumatra???
« on: November 01, 2013, 06:22:07 PM »
For some reason some people think there is Sumatra blood in the black and blue lines of ameraucana.  (both bantam and LF) Is there anyone here or do you know of anyone that has done this cross?

The 2013 National held in Great Falls Montana sported 108 ameraucanas.  There were 64 bantams and 44 large fowl shown.  I believe a combined total of 10 people exhibited birds.  We also had a District Meet held in the second show.  The National was judged by Sam Brush.

Special Action Requested

Would you please help us say "NO" to the United States Post Office's plan to raise shipping rates on the poultry you order?

Dear Valued Murray McMurray Hatchery Customer,

It has come to our attention the Post Office is requesting a change to the shipment of poultry through the mail. The following link is a copy of the proposal in PDF form or You can read the proposal on-line at the Federal Register: https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2013/04/24/2013-09603/new-mailing-standards-for-live-animals-and-special-handling

They are asking that a Special Handle Fee be charged on every Live Animal Shipment. This proposal would increase the postage amount by $9.00 to $11.95 per box.

The proposal outlines the new fees to be charged but it does not include any new rules to insure us that service would also improve. Nor does it offer how additional funds would address their concerns about; Protection of Postal Service employees, mail and the environment, or animals against death.

Please read the proposed changes and send your comments to the US Post Office. We have included a link to a sample letter (in MS Word) for your use. (Sample Letter Link)

Make your voice heard, do it today. The comment period ends next week May 24. Thank you for your continued support.

Exhibiting & Promoting / Forum Member Clean Up
« on: March 24, 2013, 02:42:38 PM »
I just wanted to pass along a quick note.

I have removed several non renewing members from the Forum.  Our Club dues should be paid the first of the year and run from January to December.  If you find your name is no longer on the members list, it is probably because we have not received your renewal.

If your name was inadvertantly removed I apologize.  There were several members that I could not verify by matching names or e-mail address to the current member roster.  Please contact me directly if you believe an error has occured.

Also, there were a few very active forum members that have not renewed.  I will leave you on the forum for the next 7-10 days.  If you do not contact me to let me know you have renewed with Michael, I will again update the system to current members only at the end of that time.

Exhibiting & Promoting / Oregon State Meet
« on: October 16, 2012, 08:36:59 PM »

A friend of mine and Christina's at the combined UOC/Ameraucana table.

The meet report was given to the secretary, so I don't remember all the placings but I did get Champion Ameraucana with a white hen and Reserve Champion with a black cockerel.

I also had BB on a black bantam hen.

The best part of the show was that my sebastopol goose, Gary, won Champion of Show in both shows.

We also got a new junior member to join thanks to my "mad" baking and basket making skills.

Congratulations go to Logan Miller for Champion Junior Ameraucana on a Wheaten cockerel.

Exhibiting & Promoting / PPBA Show, Stevenson WA
« on: April 22, 2012, 07:06:29 PM »
Hi everyone, I just returned from a show in Stevenson.  My little bantam black cockerel won Champion AOCCL.  Didn\'t go any further since all the Canadians come down and win all the awards.....    lol

He was Reserve AOCCL last month at a show in Monroe, WA.

Mike, this is the little guy that wasn\'t judged at Indy because he didn\'t like Connor for some reason.

I didn\'t see very much of Jeanine and do not know if she entered anything.  She had a faverolles meet.
