News and Information / USPS Changing Lives Carrier

Hello Members!!! I just wanted to jump on here and give everyone a heads up on some changes happening at the USPS. The USPS is changing the carrier for express services. This would include Priority Mail and Express Mail, which we use for shipping hatching eggs and lives. They are changing from Fed Ex to UPS. This will start soon and will be finished by September 29. I am very concerned this may lead to the delay and death of lives while they sort out their routes. I recommend refraining from shipping anything until we have more information about the completion of the transfer of services. I have left a message at my local distribution center and may have to call higher ups. I will inform you all when I find out any more pertinent information.

I don't think I've seen a blue or splash bantam in real life.
Crazy Californians, lol.
The splash and blue bantams were actually from Janet Tipton in Utah. I finally got to meet her in person.

Don, I have spoken to a couple judges one of them being Sam Brush, patterns, lacing, or what ever you want to call them are not acceptable on splash birds.

We do not know if the APA is considering changing all the silver breed descriptions or for some reason just picked ours. But if we consider all the breeds with the "silver" color here are some findings I sent to the Board that Lindsay and I worked on:
Just wanted to let you know Lindsay and I put our heads together while on the phone. We researched all the silver birds in the APA standard.
We found that there are two different silver descriptions used. One with clean hackles and saddles and one with striping in the hackles and saddles. While doing the research, we found all of these varieties do have photos in the standard and reflect this small difference.
The birds that are clean are the silver leghorn, silver leghorn bantam, araucana and american game bantam. The birds that have striping are the ameraucana, ameraucana bantam, silver dutch, silver phoenix and silver phoenix bantam.
If the APA wants to change to the silver leghorn description for all silver varieties, the five other breeds will have to change the way they breed their birds and will also have to change their picture in the standard. This could mean some breeds would not meet the standard for years. I also do not feel it should fall to the breed clubs or portrait sponsors to pay for these changes.
I would say no to them on changing it. The only option Lindsay and I could think of was to add a memo to the standard that the above breeds do allow striping in the saddle and hackles if they want to use one description for the silver color variety.

We are again in need of a Secretary/Treasurer.
Please contact your Director or me if you are interested.
At this time you cannot be a member of both Clubs to hold the position.
Just an FYI, this is a huge responsibility. It takes several hours per week if not daily to maintain some sort of order with all the job requirements.

I believe most States say NPIP or it's equivalent. I think TPIP is the equivalent.
It is best to check with the show or the State to make sure your testing is acceptable.
