One has arrived and the other is in production. They had to re-do the sample for the blue wheaten patch several times. The threading and background color are now squared away. Cheers to that!

That's good advice.
I'm working on muff/beard expression and tail spread with the wheatens and blue wheatens.
And combs and fluff with the blacks.
Good luck everyone!

Breeding / Setting Goals
« Last post by Lindsay Helton on March 09, 2025, 03:59:29 PM »
Hatching season has arrived and you are setting up your breeding pens.

Hopefully you have been able to evaluate your progress from last year and you are setting goals for this year.
Many breeders select two attributes to work on each breeding season.

This rule of thumb enables breeders to make efficient progress without feeling overwhelmed.
What this means is that when you are setting up your breeding pens, you will not tolerate major flaws in the two attributes you select to work on.

What will you work on this season?

Eye color?
Tail spread?
Back length?
Combs?
Wing carriage?
Muff/beard expression?
Head shape?
Feather width?
Body width?
Leg length?
Weight?
Fluff?
Temperament?
Color?

These are just a few examples of what you can work to improve during a hatching season.

Does that mean you should disregard all other qualities? No.

But now you have direction. 🙂
