Title: blue wheaten muff
Post by: Guest on December 23, 2011, 08:41:07 AM
Greetings,  Could someone please tell us the poultry standard color for blue wheaton muffs?  White or blue?  We cannot find our poultry standard book. Thanks

Females\' muffs are to be light wheaten.   Males\' muffs are to be blue.   It often takes considerable time for the male\'s muffs to turn to the correct color, especially in large fowl.  Sometimes there are a few tan or orange feathers in the muffs.  Not a big deal, but all else equal one would prefer them to be all blue.

Will a white muff on a cockerel adventually turn blue as well?  Thanks

How about posting a photo and the age of the bird in question?
