Title: question on Lavender split hatch
Post by: mustangsaguaro on September 03, 2011, 03:47:54 PM
Since I am so new to the color Lavender and trying to understand Lav. split a bit better have some questions. About a week to 2 weeks ago I had 7 chicks hatch, 5 were all lavender and 2 hatched out blacks. I was thinking of keeping the blacks (they are from Lav. split eggs), but was noticing one thing that leads me to believe I might want to consider selling these 2 chicks to someone that\'s not concerned about color and just have them for egg layers (should they both happen to be females). What I have noticed in these 2 chicks as there wing feathers are coming in, the very outer wing feathers are lavender. Because they are not totally black should I consider re-homing these 2 or should I wait until they are fully feathered and a bit older to see how they turnout?

THanks
Kim

Blacks do have some white primaries when they are young.  They will lose them.  :)
