News and Information / Story of an unfortunate incident!
« on: March 22, 2019, 08:22:07 AM »
I want to come to the Ameraucana Breeders Club members and kindly ask on behalf of Hannah and Colton Brush for your kindness and possibly donating any birds, chicks or eggs to these 2 young breeders, or whatever your heart desires!    These two are part of the future of this breed!
It has come to my attention a few weeks ago, that a weasel killed over 90% of their birds.  This is the second time in less than 2 years this has happened to them! They are struggling, but not ready to give up.
Their father Eric had reconstructed the barn from the last event and had even put metal al around the sides of the pens approximately 1 foot up on the walls, but yet the weasel chewed through a 2x4 and managed to kill most of their birds in 1 night.   The next plan is in place already! He is going to place 1/2 x 1/2 inch wire on the walls along with placing boards over the wire as well.  In hopes this will stop.
They do not want to give up, it has been discussed about quitting, but they don’t want to give up, they love the birds and breeding them. They said NEVER.   And their parents ,Eric and Sarah are supporting them 100 %.
So if there is anything that you can donate to these two, we know it would be greatly appreciated.
We will be donating eggs, and possibly chicks, or whatever we can provide them with, we will help them any way that we can.   Their address is   Hannah and Colton Brush. 1471 Riley Rd,   Large, OH 43332
                                                                                                Thank you

« on: July 12, 2016, 08:49:36 PM »
We are finally able to get back on the forum our internet has been awful since all the flooding.   We were not affected by the flood on our county.  But 44 out of our 55 counties in WV were hit hard.   So for everyone that has emailed us, we r getting back  to normal.   We r making trips north to help out.    Prayers appreciated for all those in need that have lost everything in the flood.
We did Lois a few birds that were on farm walks, but that's the least of our worries!
The postal service has shut us down temporarily from shipping birds, so if anyone is interested please call me and we can make arrangements.

Made it home at 4 pm today.   Unloaded all the chickens and ready for bed now!    I would like to thank Clif and Linda Redden,  Paul and Angela Smith and Matthew.   Didn't get to spend too much time with Matthew,  we were both so tired.   But anyway enjoyed visiting with everyone and it was well with a round trip of 2,280 miles.    Also would like to thank Max and Tonya Strawn and Jan Burke  Geis.  Thanks for all the great hospitality in Shawnee, Ok.
It was a great learning experience from all the great Ameraucana friends and Cheryl says that I can't mark this trip off my bucket list until she gets to go with me, so I guess I will be making this trip again in the near future.
This is for Jan Burke Geis...you have one beautiful bird!!

Bringing some frozen Ameraucana's to N.C.   Don, I am also bringing Cheryl. She has helped me all day, you better pray for good weather as,you and Jerry promised!    We cleaned up six in about 8 degree weather, her hands are cold and about gone. Don't think they will ever warm up!!   I just wonder how the weather is gonna be tomorrow in Winston Salem?  We will have to leave at 2 am to get there on time.   Will see you folks then and can't wait for that southern hospitality.   Hey Don, do I need to bring my coveralls?  This is Cheryl speaking, for I can't hardly stand the cold anymore.  Thanks.    Have a good evening!

Housing, Health & Hatching / Processing
« on: October 12, 2014, 09:55:46 AM »
Jeff has went through all the chickens for himself and all the 4 H projects, now we need to know if anyone on the forum knows where we can get chickens processed?   We have an over abundance of roosters and we are afraid to try it our selves this year, Jeff's lungs are still not in good shape and fell that we should not do it this yr.  we want to know if there is someplace o
In Ohio, WV, Va, or NC would even work for us.  I have trying calling all over WV and can't find anyone that will process the chickens for us, don't know anywhere else to call here at home.       If anyone has any info that will help me, please share.            Thanks in advance.          Cheryl

Exhibiting & Promoting / Lucasville Meet
« on: October 07, 2014, 09:56:23 PM »
Sharon,
We were very pleased and impressed with the way you handled things at Lucasville. Everything went smooth at a spectators view, everyone seemed pleased with how things went!!  It was great each evening to be able to sit down and eat supper among friends and talk chickens.  It was a pleasure for me to see Jeff relaxed and be able to be stress free form things at home, and clear his mind about work!  It was so good to put faces with names and actually get to see everyone. I must say there are some really nice folks in this chicken business.
We really enjoyed our visits and talks with Clif and Linda Redden as well as Paul and Angela Smith too,  such wonderful folks. and we really enjoyed hanging out with Matthew Smith too.  Paul and Angels have a wonderful young man to be very proud of.  And also we can't forget to mention Christine and Will Kitch, very nice young man as well.
Jeff keeps talking about how beautiful the blue hen was that Max had and also about the black hen that Camille won with was very nice too.   Russ Blair you touched  Jeff's heart by being so nice to the young girl that was standing up front at the table hoping to win something.
Don't know if I have posted this in the right spot or not, but felt like I just needed to post!!!
After Jeff retires I am sure he will be on this sight constantly!
Once again, we really enjoyed the meet and all the great company.
