Congratulations Julie on your well-deserved show award!

I'm sorry, but my candy jar is empty; I just have a hard time keeping it in stock! It's a good thing the manufacturing plant is only 7 miles away. It's always just a big temptation when i drive right by it when I go to Lincoln. You were asking about ideas for the new member's raffle. You know you can buy them by the case! It might be hard not to keep quality checking them while waiting for the drawing!!!!!!

Lindsay, on the show report, shouldn't it be listed as a National Meet, not a Club Meet.

Christina, Keep working on your chicken house, and we will see if we can get some Ameraucanas taking up residence there next spring!

Thanks to those who entered birds in the 2022 ABC National Meet. You made the Ameraucana Breed proud with the large number of entries shown. LF Splash came from out of the woodwork from all parts of the country. 43 entries show that Ameraucana breeders do indeed want them as a recognized variety.

It was great seeing familiar faces again (Paul and Angela Smith, Lindsay Helton, Jean Ribbeck, Jerry DeSmidt, Sara Church, and Andrea Drenth). Now for the new faces. Brooklyn Helton (who loves chocolate meltaways as much as her Ameraucanas), Valerie Boese, an ABC member since 2019 and first time showing at an ABC National Meet. Jean Tobiasson who renewed her lapsed membership at the show. Christina Weldon, one of our more recent members from the NC District. She recently moved to a new acreage and has been posting photos on the ABC Forum on progress restoring her chicken house.

Exhibiting & Promoting / Eggs?

Are your pullets and hens still laying? Yes, the ABC National Meet will be having an egg judging contest. My layers have stopped producing due to molt. For those of you that have eggs, there will be classes for LF and Bantam. There is no entry charge.

What a bummer Paul. You lose birds to the Heath Commision, and I lost many of mine to raccoons. At least mine is under control. 14 trapped raccoons and no dead birds for over 2 months now and I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel! I only wish that you had a better experience with the talk with the health Commision

Just a reminder, entry deadline is rapidly approaching for our 2022 ABC National Meet and the First Qualifying LF Splash Meet in Lincoln NE. Entries must be postmarked by this Friday, November 4th. We can use some more LF Splash entries to make the LF Splash a recognized variety by the APA. Don't forget to place your bid on those offsite silent auction items. If you miss that cutoff, you will have to make the show to bid on onsite auction items!

Very interesting article Lindsay. It sounds like there are several factors that could possibly lead to crooked toes in poultry.

This Show is the location for the 2022 ABC National Meet and also the First Qualifying Meet for the LF Splash on November 19-20. You can download the catalog and entry forms at Poultry Show Central or Nebraska State Poultry Show. I will bring some Catalogs and Entry Forms to hand out at our ABC NC District Meet this Saturday October 8 at Jefferson, WI.
