Exhibiting & Promoting / Western National Show???
« on: October 10, 2016, 12:07:40 AM »
I just would like to bring this up.

It would be nice to have a Western National Show. A lot of these National Shows are held too faraway for people in the West/South West region.

There is precedent already for these types of shows, the Wyandotte Club has an Eastern and Western National Show.

Modesto is a possibility or Perhaps the Tucson poultry show that averages 1,100-1,300 entries per year.

Exhibiting & Promoting / Fall Double Show in AZ
« on: September 08, 2016, 07:06:16 AM »
Fall Double Show. October 28 and 29th in St. Johns AZ. This site is hosting the 4 Corners show along with the Apache County Poultry show.

There will be four well known Judges, The inaugural Apache County Show was a huge success with breeders coming from neighboring states. We need a strong Ameraucana showing. This is a lovely small town with a beautiful venue/barn and St Johns has some prime rock hunting location. Make a weekend out of it and lets get an Ameraucana on champion row.

Ill be going :)

Exhibiting & Promoting / St Johns Show, AZ and ABC state meet
« on: February 22, 2016, 09:55:04 PM »
Congrats to Marcia Lincoln for winning the ABC Arizona State meet, with her Black AM Cock. Marcia's cock was also Reserve Champion AOSB to a really nice Black Sumatra hen.

The St. Johns was a huge success, the whole community was behind the show and the venue was spectacualr. I encourage anyone who has a chance to go, to go. Its a great rock hunting area too :)

Breeding / Red Coloring Poll
« on: January 19, 2016, 01:47:21 PM »
On another forum, a picture was posted of Bantams Red Ameruacanas. They were created by Jim Tuckwood 10 years ago and no one knows what exactly happened to them.

This got me thinking of how to create a Red Ameraucana, and what type of Red coloring would be desired to see on a possible Red Ameraucana?

The foundation is there with Buff and Wheaten, since (RC) Rhode Island Reds and  Buckeyes (Pea Comb) share the same extension gene Wheaten (eWh) and Im believing Red Orpingtons do as well. Also Red Orpington gives you the white skin needed for slate legs, but single comb. With RIR and Buckeyes you would have to worry about the recessive yellow skin gene.

Again this is just a hypothetical scenario, its something Ive been thinking about for a couple of years and recently because of the bantam pictures made me think about it again.

News and Information / Lavender Cuckoo in Gallery
« on: July 11, 2015, 03:15:19 PM »
I was looking at the AOV gallery and I noticed the Lavender cuckoo pictures. I noticed the wrong leg color on all of them and even a single comb on one of them. Is this what we want to promote on here as a good representation of a project color? I think a project color should have strong AM traits. Ameraucana and Easter egger differences are hard enough for some people to understand. I just think there are other projects out there that can be used. I only know of one person working on this project.

Exhibiting & Promoting / Southwest Meet, Lets make it happen ! :)
« on: March 03, 2015, 09:46:14 PM »
How does someone go about creating a southwest meet? I would like to organize a big meet annually to help support breeders and exhibitors in the southwest region of the country. I think this can helps breeders know what and what not to look for, obtain new stock, make good friends and to have a blast showing this awesome breed.

I think the closest meet we have here in the southwest is Stockton. This show would be for Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, West Texas, Utah or anyone who wants to make the drive.

Also does it have to be a specialty show or in conjunction with another show already established.

I know there are downloading instructions, and stuff which makes no sense to me.  There is a term we used in the Marines. "Barney Style" after the kids show icon.  If someone can explain to me "Barney style" I would appreciate it !  :)
