Title: My setup of my black breeding pen
Post by: Jess on August 09, 2011, 07:24:42 PM
Evening Folks,
Y\'all may get tired of me posting all these pictures, if you do just say so and I\'ll slow it down.
I have set up with 14 Black hens and 2 Splash roosters.
The run is 20\' X 12\'  and the house part is 10\' X 10\'.
This gives them 340 square feet of space. I think this is enough.
Any comments welcome\'
Thanks
Jess

These hens haven\'t started laying yet, they are from 4 to 5 1/2 months old.
Thanks

How high is that panel fencing? Do you clip your birds\' feathers to get them to stay in?

HI OldChurchEggery
Those are horse panels and are 5\' high by 20\' long.
They are seconds, so I got them at a good price.
I do clip the pullets wings, but after about a year old they are so heavy they cain\'t fly over them.
Thanks
Jess
