Jean so if i mailed you a bird or two, you would show them and then give them out for a prize if i wanted you to? Is that what you mean? Lol.

Yep, I can do that, or I can ship them back to you.  It would be cheaper than gas and hotel to do that.

I think we should add on to the traveling trophy.

I have not been to the Caldwell show before, but will try to get info on how big it is.

If they were day olds, they should be fine.  I bet they are there already this morning.

Don,

I don't have a plan yet, but am on my way.  I do believe there will be room for a raffle or silent auction.  I have lots of room in my "chicken trailer" if anyone would like to forward birds for raffle or for me to display at the show for them.  I also have quarantine areas around the barn.

Susan may know what our standard awards are for prize money.  We generally decide on bigger awards the summer before the show and people donate for "specials".

We can think about retiring the traveling bantam award or getting another plaque made and continuing the tradition.

I was thinking of getting blue and red aprons made this year with the ameraucana logo on them for BV and RV for the show.  We could sell any remainders on the website as Club merchandise.  I was also thinking of getting some directors chairs made up with the Club logo.  Clif suggested that we get them in different colors for different districts, which I thought was a fun idea.

Anyone have any other ideas???

It's already time to start thinking about putting our National together as far as awards, etc.

The host Club is offering us a nice plaque for Champion Ameraucana.  I believe Paul will be making four plaques for the BB and RB for LF and bantams.

We will also have egg awards.

If you would like to donate a special award now is the time to do it. :)

I will be looking into a couple of the items I posted about previously, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

That is to be expected with any line of ameraucana.

Exhibiting & Promoting / Looking for Chick/Hatching Egg Donations
« on: February 11, 2016, 02:32:34 PM »
A 4-H group in the Tri -Cities area of Washington is looking for ameraucanas to be either donated or at low cost for their kids.  I don't have my breeding pens set up yet, so will not be able to get them birds.  Does anyone out there have anything they could donate?

They e-mailed me looking for LF and bantam lav/self blue birds.  These kids put on a small APA show in the spring and sell birds to their kids and the public for their 4-H group.

I will probably be able to supply them with bantam wtn and blue wheatens only.

Thanks,

Breeding / Re: Red Coloring Poll
« on: January 19, 2016, 07:23:51 PM »
Cesar,

I would not recommend using a rose comb.  The pea comb is more dominant over the single comb whereas if you breed a pea and a rosecomb they can both express and you get a cushion comb.  Much easier to remove a single comb in the line.

I was considering the red project also, but that will be down the road once the chocolates are done. You always want to use the ameraucana male in your outcross to keep as much of your egg color as possible.

Don, there is a gentleman on FB on the ameraucana thread looking for buffs.  But he is looking for diversity since his line is having trouble reproducing and thriving.

It seems the ameraucanas have done quite well again.  Hopefully we will get a unofficial update soon.

Temple,

Weren't you originally looking for a white cockerel?  If so, see if Don Cash has any.

Don?
