Title: tail carriage

Regarding the angle that cockerals carry their tail, does age and enviroment play any part in how they carry it?  Could they carry low when they are growing or low in the pecking order and it would change when that changes?  I\'m trying to thin the flock and have just a couple that look right and many that are horizontal or down low.  Which I find surprising since their sires have good carriage.  Just wondering if they are intimidated by the more dominant cockerals in the flock? They are approximately 13 weeks old now.

Possibly.  I would seperate them out, or pair them with one female each, and see if anything changes....also 13 weeks is REALLY young to be culling, in my opinion...  ;)

Ditto.   I would not cull for tail carriage at that age.

Thanks.  That\'s what I was wondering.  I still need to thin the flock though, so I won\'t consider that aspect.
