Breeding / Re: Crele Ameraucana Project Color
« on: January 17, 2020, 03:03:17 PM »
Also, thought Id add a few pics of this year's breeders to better document the progress over time. The first pic of blks and creles have been living together since April 2019, theyve mated with each other since maturity. The other blk cock and hens I picked up at nationals, I hope they mate well with the creles. I think the 2nd Male will help bring down the high tailset the oegb carry, but the pic is more drastic than how he typically carries it.  Also added a pic of the bantam Dominiques being used in my barred project. I plan to cross the 2 lines in future generations for diversity and to work on the crele barring.

Thanks again Don for letting me look over your Bantam Chickens by Fred Jeffrey, attached is an excerpt from his book pertaining to the crele colour.

Spencer,

It was so nice to meet your family. I look forward to showing with you guys for years to come.

We enjoyed the trip and visiting with y'all. That show was a much needed vacation for us. We look forwarding to crossing paths in the future!

Thank you Jerry for those calculations. We had several trios entered in black and white. These two colors were well represented as they are at most shows. I hope Spencer will be back with his own displays in both next year too. I look forward to seeing some of the other colors gain representation in future shows.

I'll see what I can do, I'll have something to bring to the Dixie Classic next year for sure.

Had a lot of fun visiting with everyone. I had been to past nationals but was hesitant to socialize as much. Bringing the kid made it all feel down to earth. The family enjoyed it and I got some nice birds to add to my flock.

Food was good and we enjoyed the fellowship. We won't be at nationals next year but we will be back to the Dixie Classic in 2020 and plan to show a few birds.

Thanks for the info, I found a used copy on ebay, Im going to message the seller and try to get the price down a bit. I'll add it to my saved searches incase someone else lists one for cheaper. The current one is $60.

See ya at the show, no worries if you dont bring your copy. I know there will be a lot going on during the show.

Breeding / Crele Ameraucana Project Color
« on: December 04, 2019, 05:39:26 PM »
I saw back in the mid 2000s that Michael Meunks was selling some of his project crele birds. Does anyone have Mr Meunks email to contact him? I tried an old email I found with hopes of hearing from him.

Does anyone here know what came of the project or how far along he developed them?

I have 5 crele oegb hens and 1 male. I have some bantam white and black ameraucanas also that I have raised with the crele, hoping they mate well in the spring. Wish I had a silver bantam male to work with but I'll be focusing on the black X crele mating this first year. And test mating the whites to determine their underlying color.

If anyone else has worked on this project please feel free to chime in. I'm not concerned with the absence of slate in the legs since this is a project and not concerned with their ameraucana status.

Same here, Cant wait to meet you and everyone else!

The Dixie Classic is our favorite show to attend since it's in Tennessee. It always seems well organized. A few years back when we were there, they were filming the documentary, "Chicken People." If you haven't seen it, it's a fun watch :)

Sounds like a plan! We will see everyone there.

@Don, I could be mistaken but I believe we met at the nationals in 2015 in Arkansas. A group of ABC members went to Golden Corral if that rings a bell.

I know in past years members have gone out to eat at a buffet or something of the sort at nationals as a group.

Does anyone have plans of doing so this year?

If so my family and I would enjoy going out with everyone Saturday evening. We lived in Knoxville for for a while and know the area pretty well if we decide to go out and need any recommendations.

That’s great Tennessee Farms. I am located in Tennessee as well. Which city do you reside in? See you at the show!
