It would be great to have someone bring back bantams breeders from the show.
Please let us know if you have stock available and I will try to connect potential bantam breeders in our area.

I would like to find some good buff bantams, Anyone?

Ameraucana Marketplace / Buff Bantam Cockerals

One of our local breeders ordered a box of buff chicks and ended up with 2 pullets in the lot.  So they have Lots of young males available for anyone looking.  There are about 3/4 grown and look quite nice.  Jerry Segler used to say that he could use a Buff male with whites (sex link gold/silver) and have great buff females in a generation.  And you can cross the Buff with Wheatens to strengthen the buff genetics.  It takes a generation or two to get clear buff color again, but it does work to improve the vitality of the family quite well.

Exhibiting & Promoting / SE meets
« on: June 17, 2015, 09:34:07 AM »
We have meets set in most states for the fall but none called for Georgia yet. It's been a few years since I showed in the area so I am not sure about which shows are best attended.  Anyone want to foster a meet at your favorite show?   Just drop me a note and we can talk about the best place for the state meet.

I think there was a good turn out for the auction at the national last year.  And I hope we will have space for another this year.  If we are going to have one, do we just let Paul know what we plan to donate?

I know that there are a lot of people working with LF Silvers now.  But several folks that used to keep Bantams have stopped for a least a time.  I know that Curtis Beck moved from the farm to the city and got rid of everything for a time.  Jerry said raccoons have given him significant trouble in his silver pens too.  There are several bantam silver flocks here in our area now and these are from the same 2-3 lines.  But who in the US is working with this color and which lines are you working with now?  I have a couple of lines and would like to see if everyone is having the same issues with specific lines.
There are a few flocks of bantams of any color here in the SE but very few showing on a regular basis.  It would be great to see more competition in these classes all around.
Just drop me an email or post here if you have silver bantams now or are interested in bantams of any color.    Thanks!    drccash@yahoo.com

Exhibiting & Promoting / spring 2015 shows for North and south Carolina
« on: January 12, 2015, 09:29:29 PM »
The next newsletter is due to go out March 1 which will be in time for a few shows in our area.  I can plan to make the Forsyth Show and the Greensboro show.  Given that we hope to have at least three members showing, and I expect we can muster members for these two shows for sure.  Beth, would you please set meets for these shows before the newsletter deadline?  Which shows do the other members think are good matches for your show schedule?

I copied the following list from the Poultry Central website.  I know that the Forsyth show date is correct but we will need to confirm the other dates.  There was a show in Morganton the second week in Jan, who knew?   And the Unifour show is March 1 at the Rowan Co Fairgrounds, but it will be too late to be called as an ABC meet.

« on: December 26, 2014, 07:04:28 PM »
We are sorting thru our stock for spring breeding and have birds available.  We are located in NC and would love to help new folks get started in our area.  We have not shipped and would prefer to meet you at shows or have you come pick up birds.

Large Fowl:

remaining pair of Buff LF has been promised    Hope to have more this fall.    $50/pr

Bantam; silver and Lavender  $30/pr
We have a few AOV "Birchen color" out of Curtis Becks silver line if anyone wants a start.   $30/pr

We will have a limited amount of hatching eggs available later in the season.  We don't try to push the birds early in the season, so we start hatching much later than most, usually April and May.

Feel free to email with questions.  drccash@yahoo.com  Thanks!

This is NOT a place to list the varieties of Ameraucana that you own, but it is intended to be a reliable source of quality Ameraucana stock that you have for sale when available. The Breeders Directory can be viewed from the Home page of the club

Housing, Health & Hatching / Preparing incubators for hatching
« on: December 15, 2013, 08:45:37 AM »
Not that I'm there yet, but I am beginning to think about a new hatch year.  Last year was a bad year with extremely poor hatches for us.  So what process can you share about how you get your birds and incubators ready for this new year?
