Evening,
I\'m still trying to get all this togather.
I think this is what I have learned.
Wheaten X Splash Wheaten = 100% Blue Wheaten
Blue Wheaten X Blue Wheaten = 50% Blue Wheaten
25%Wheaten
25% Splash Wheaten
Wheaten X Blue wheaten = 50% Wheaten
50% Blue Wheaten
What will I get if I cross Blue wheaten with Splash Wheaten.
Thanks
Jess

Mike said on the other topic...
I would be willing to wager he is splash wheaten. There is a lot of contrast between the base color and that dark feather in the tail. If you breed him to blue wheaten females you should get about half blue wheaten and half splash wheaten.

Thanks Mr. John,
I\'m sorry I should have read it better.

Evening,
Is there a book, or papers that explanes the genetic makeup of the Ameraucana breed? Can you buy it?
How did they come up with the 8 different coulors?
I read how there are some folks working on getting different coulors recogonized.
I was just wondering how it all came about.
Thanks
Jess

Jess, each color of bantam and large fowl has its own story, so it would take a lengthy dissertation to explain it all. You could start by reading the History link by Richard Orr on this website. Some varieties are still a work in process.
