Title: What to use for pads

Evening folks,
I am using these doggie training pads for my new hatched chicks. Is this OK?
after about three days I just roll it up and replace with another, then put wood chips on top of the pad.
It makes it almost oderless and it seems to keep everything dry.What does everyone else use?

That\'s a really cool idea!  I just use pine shavings, nothing underneath, but my brooders have plastic bases, so I don\'t have to worry about the \"ick\" seeping into it like with wood.

Jess i just use these blue heavy duty shop towels put them afew layers thick and then peal them up as they get soiled. I use them on my wire floor homemade brooders.     Birddog

I never thought of using those. They make a special paper that cuts down on odor, but costs considerably more. Let me know how they work as the chicks grow. I use towels when they\'re day-old, but after about a week they start digging and wad them up. If they stay in place under shaving I might give that a try.
