Title: Double spurs
Post by: Lindsay Helton on May 05, 2026, 06:10:34 PM
A spur is a projection on the rear of the shank. It typically increases with size as the bird ages and is prominent on male Ameraucana.

Occasionally you will see a spur on an Ameraucana female. Presence of a spur on Ameraucana females is a defect.

A double spur on Ameraucana males and females would be considered a defect. You can review the relevant point deductions in your APA Standard.
