We set 529 eggs in an attempt to get all ASAP orders caught up for black, blue, splash, white and self blue Ameraucanas.  A very good possibility that we may be able to supply chicks from each of these varieties on April 29.  Our last two hatches will be much smaller and on May 13 and May 28.  We will discontinue Ameraucanas with the exception of self blue after these hatches.

For chick order information email psmith@ntin.net

It is a possibility that Ft. Worth show in 2018 may have met the 4, 4, 4, 4 requirement, but no paperwork!  I remember Howard Story showed a lot of self blue bantams.

The first requirement will be to identify a minimum of 5 people who have bred self blue bantams for a  minimum of 5 years and maintained an APA membership for all 5 years.  Then each one will need to sign an affidavit verifying that they are an APA member and raised the SB bantams for at least 5 years while maintaining an APA membership.

Once the ABC has this, the club will need to file a petition with the APA for recognition of the SB bantams and pay fee.  Then there will have to be two pre-qualifying meet of
4, 4, 4, 4 (four head in each class of C, H, K, P) if the ABC records cannot prove that there has been some shows with those minimum requirements.  There pre-qualifying meets can be at any APA show.  They must be one year apart and completed in two years after the petition was filed.  The two qualifying meets must be at an APA district show first, then at the assigned APA national show the last step.  Most district APA directors will be at the national meet and they have the final approval.

Each judge will need to sign paper work verifying the 16 head and his/her approval of the variety recognition of the two pre-qualifying meets.  There is more paper work for the qualifying two meets.  This is a challenging and fun process.  I had the privilege of being on the team with the large fowl.  I do not know the process for the ABA, but it should be very similar.  I know that it is recommended by the APA to file for recognition with both clubs ABA and APA at the same time.

We should be able to supply more blue and splash and possibly other varieties than what is booked from our tenth hatch on April 1. Email psmith@ntin.net for chick order info. Our eleventh hatch is set for April 15. Collecting eggs now for our twelfth hatch on April 29.

One more thing that was left behind.  A search to see if at least 5 ABC members have bred self blue bantams for at least 5 years and maintained an APA membership, so the recognition process could begin for them.  If the requirements could not be filled, then the vote was to start the recognition process with the large fowl splash.

We can still accept chick orders for black, blue, and splash from our tenth hatch of the season, due April 1st.  The other varieties are booked up.  Next following hatch is scheduled for April 15.  Email psmith@ntin.net for chick order information.

Our ninth hatch of the season went on lock down Friday, March 15th, and tenth hatch is in incubation.  We can still supply black, blue, splash, white, self blue and self blue splits from our remaining hatches.  The three wheatens are fully booked through May 28th, which will be our last hatch to offer Ameraucanas in all these varieties, as we plan to only continue with self blue and splits.

Email psmith@ntin.net for chick order information.

We just set our tenth hatch of fall 2018/spring 2019 hatching season. This was our first full incubator with 288 Ameraucana eggs. We have six remaining hatches which can supply more black, blue, splash, white and self blue chicks for chicks orders. The three wheaten varieties are fully booked.
Now that we have changed out four electronic thermostats (one faulty at purchase) one fan and one heating element, the incubators are working properly. Fertility is good now, so we can produce chicks! Our last hatch will be May 28, 2019. We plan to continue breeding self blue and self blue splits in Ameraucanas and cease all the other varieties, after breeding them for over 20 years.
Email Paul & Angela Smith, psmith@ntin.net for chick order information and price list.

Ameraucana Marketplace / Looking for Ameraucana chicks
« on: January 03, 2019, 10:30:22 PM »
We are looking for someone who purchased blacks, or black, blue and splash from us in 2000 through 2010 and have not added anything to them-maintaining the original bloodlines.  We have sold several hundred starts of Ameraucanas during this eleven year period and would like to purchase some descendants of them.  We knew of two flocks as of four years ago, but both have added other bloodlines of Ameraucanas the past 3 years.
Paul Smith maybe contacted through email psmith@ntin.net or calling 940-768-8405.
  Thanks,
  Paul & Angela Smith
