ABC National Awards

Just wondering what is the deal for National Meet awards this year.   Usually in the past there has been an appeal for contributions.    Is anybody here in the know on this?

Here is the plea from me that will be sent to the members in the upcoming Bulletin...

Well, how about digging deep into your stash of cash and donating some moola to be used to buy awards for the winners at the ABC national?  Just send a check to Michael.  He and Barbara will do the rest.  No, it isn’t a tax write-off but hopefully our thanks will be payment enough.

I know that Patty has posted some fundraising ideas here to help pay for awards and recently Barbara was looking into awards.  A list should be included in the Bulletin.

If money is tight and members cant afford to donate cash toward awards, there are other ways to help out and support our 2010 national. I know that several breeders have commented on nice hatches this year, perhaps our members could considered setting aside a nice pair of ameraucanas from this year\'s hatch for the club auction that will be held at the national meet.  I know that we could raise enough money from an auction or raffle of birds to fund the next year\'s national awards.  

Last year we spent around $400 in open awards. If we had a dozen pairs of quality birds in our auction/raffle, we would easily raise several hundred dollars in that one raffle/auction.

I think that because the Columbus show is called the Ohio Nationals (or close to it), it can be misleading.  I\'m thinking about calling our local show the Michigan International, since Greg, from Ontario is coming...but there is already a racetrack with that name and it may be misleading.

The reason for the parenthses around the money awards is that this is our \"target\" amount for each of these awards.  We currntly have only about half of what is needed to provide these awards.  Please feel free to send your donations to Micheal at any time

The gentleman I had contacted about doing sandetching for our BV/RV awrds isn\'t able to work them out for us.  I\'d like to hear any ideas you might have.

What about getting some hats embroidered with an ameraucana on it?  Obviously we could not get all varieties digitized as that would be pretty expensive, but maybe we can get one parti color variety digitized and just go with that.  I have heard at shows that folks would like to have embroidered hats for sale from the club....

If we had a line sketch, it would probably be around 100.00 to get the digitized program made for it- unless we have that program out there somewhere.   If it was digitized for a parti colored variety then it could stitch out in that colored variety but also it could stitch out in all of the solid colors.  We might be out of luck on the other parti colors though.

We have a local company here that does wonderful work- they do the NCBA embroidered projects.

Burt Awards has our logo and has done our ABC rosettes, plaques and the like for many years.  There isn\'t an extra logo \"setup\" fee for the things they do for us.

I don\'t know that they do either of those.  Their website shows the awards they have available.

I like the idea of the hats if it isn\'t cost prohibitive - an award perched on someone\'s head is free advertising for the club. I have a friend who does custom embroidery, so I ask her what it would cost to setup the logo, just to see if it would be doable. I\'ll let you know what she comes up with. She said she could put it on hats, sweatshirts, polo shirts, etc.
