A.P.A. National Meet

Mary and I attended the American Poultry Association national meet in Illinois this past weekend.   No Ameraucanas made it to champion row.   In fact, only three bantams were shown, two of which were ours.    I had entered another, but he was moulting too badly to bring.   The large fowl Am\'s fared better, with six exhibitors and 11 birds - though more had been entered.  Geoff Stevens of Wisconsin took BB and RB on blacks out of a young trio.   And a bird that originated from his flock took champion AOSB in the junior show.   There were some very nice black bantams in the junior show, and after making inquires we found out they originated as chicks from neighbor and fellow ABC\'er Bob Walchak.  One of those black bantam pullets went best AOCCL in the junior show, which was very large and strong.   Mary and I spent some quality time with fellow ABC\'ers Bob and Sandy Rennolet of South Dakota.   We had hoped to see many more of you.
