Stockton Show premium list is out. Who\'s coming?
« on: December 22, 2010, 10:52:54 AM »
The 64th Annual Winter Show will be January 29-30, 2011 at the San Joaquin Co. Fairgrounds in Stockton, CA.

I plan on attending.  Entries close January 10, 2011

In 2009, there were a lot of losses due to theft.  In 2010 it was a lot better.  I still don\'t plan on showing any bird that I can\'t do without.  So, my lovely cockerel from Harry will not attend.  He\'s the only lavender boy I have.  Ah, well.  Some bantams will be there.

By the way, how come they don\'t list the classes in the premium booklet?  I realize that they expect us to KNOW this stuff, but I need to look it up each time... and I forget where to look it up.

Last year the show secretary told me I didn\'t need to fill that in, she would do it.  (show-off)

\"Class\" can be misleading.  I don\'t remember ever seeing an entry form that asked the exhibitor to write in any of the classes, like ASOB or AOCCL.  Generally they ask for class, like bantam chicken, waterfowl, turkey, etc.  Then of course they want the breed, variety and sex (which is a class also).

The entry has the following columns across the top:

S, B, WF                 (example: B)
Class                      (SCCL)
Breed and Variety    (Leghorn, White)
DC
C
H
K
P
OT
YT
# of Birds

I gotta admit that it took me FOREVER to figure out that K was for cockerel, and I still don\'t know what DC is.

Duck? OT & YT are turkeys (Old Tom & Young Tom), but haven\'t seen DC.

Double coop makes sense.  They have a $3 charge for that.

I sure hope I\'m not the only one there.  I guess I can read a book and try to stay the heck out of the sale barn.

Oh!  I thought OT and YT were Old Trio and Young Trio.

There definitely were turkeys last year... but there is no mention of prizes for turkeys.  There are prizes for trios, though.  It still might be trios.

OT is old trio, YT is young trio.   DC had me stumped too, but it must be double coop/cage.

Oops - my bad. Carolina Feather Fanciers had OT/YT on their entry. I didn\'t know what it meant so I called the show secretary and that\'s what he told me - guess they don\'t all use the same abbreviations?

Thanks everyone - for making me feel a lot better about being so confused by the entry form.  ^_^
